HOMEBLED
the white black box erupts over your small hands
once infracted it seeds and plugs
against the long dry moth in the squirm before light
and longing like cattle bruisng a still hidden fence
demolished by hints of the shed was breaking
and the long gone ghost of the sunk and human
the sleeping wharf bangs the homebled man
the sleeping wharf bangs the homebled man
and lug the guts into the seer’s room
I chart you like a hermit full
a maggot crumbs a bag of hunger
it skags the wheel and freezes the summit
I was droll under the hot feeding
I was the weather inevitable and sharp
do not prison that full
not in the smallest loiter
lend me your world smell
all that futures the hold
out of the whitewashed sky
horses falling down
in the rub of the ground
to see beneath
a luckless sight
and the grope extends
from the back of the light
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well. tofupotpie
