A loser at this carnival
Waiting to be risen
A prisoner inside these walls
Waiting to be risen
Up, up from under the stalk
Up, up beyond all this talk
A decision of vision
Going out for a walk
A medium of dry fish
And the only scale available for this next itch
Is partly paralysed
As under thunder
Quickly catalogued
Under every blunder
Waiting to be risen
And there’s no one
to light the candle tonight
And there’s no direction to move in
unless it’s to fight
And from where I sit
Waiting to be risen
And from where I sit
The soul is hidden
And I don’t know anyone
Who wants to plumb this well
Just a spirit under rock now
Waiting to be risen
Waiting to be risen

The great underlying instrumentation paired with Florence's droll stream of consciousness lyrics make this album stand out. It feels so personal and confessional. Favorite tracks are Strong Feelings and Leafy. I've heard Scratchard Lanyard on alt radio and love that one as well. tofupotpie
Kansas City trio Flooding draw out the more mystical qualities of slowcore and noise rock for a heavy sound that's less stony than doom. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 26, 2023
A killer re-release of a rare solo post-punk LP from 1988 by the frontman of Taste of Decay and Garden of Pleasures. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 17, 2022
On her latest EP, Baltimore's Mariah Fortune adds electronic beats and synth layers to her rhythmic dark folk meditations. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 21, 2018
Very happy a colleague recommended Mdou Moctar to me after I discovered & fell in love with Tinariwen and this new (to me) desert blues sound! Mdou Moctar inject more of a psychedelic sensibility into their music rather than Tinariwen's drone, making it flavorfully distinctive, while still carrying that shining, twanging, sun-drenched sound we all love about Saharan desert rock. Love the grooving rhythms and the alternately snappy clean or drowned-in-effects guitar melodies. Excellent work! pinkytheent
